25.09.2014:
Neon 0.4.2 is now available for download. Rendering is now
much faster and the dialog system has been improved. Several libraries have been updated or switched
to an alternative. The backend is moving towards a client/server structure.
6.10.2013:
Neon 0.4.1 is now available for download. The most
visible change is a new font, to make sure the game looks the same on every platform. Other changes are
mostly to the backend (resource handling, event bus, ...).
1.12.2012:
Neon 0.4.0 is now available for download.
The editor is finally feature complete (the minor version number has been upped to 4 to celebrate).
Apart from this, the magic system and event handling have had a significant overhaul.
24.2.2012:
Neon 0.3.10 is now available for download.
The biggest changes are a result of the new libraries (JDBM3, TinyLaF and JTexGen). This allows for a
new caching and saving system, a different look and procedural texture generation for better landscapes.
1.5.2012:
Neon 0.3.9 is now available for download. The help
system in the editor is greatly expanded, this should make creating mods a lot easier. The engine has
seen some large changes under the bonnet, the most visible one being the magic system.
2.4.2012:
Neon 0.3.8 is now available for download.
Some visual updates in this release, such as the (for now) limited support for SVG. Random generation
has seen some improvement, and the 'Darkness falls' sample game has been slightly extended.
24.2.2012:
Neon 0.3.7 is now available for download.
Map editing got several major upgrades in this release. The game interface has also undergone
some cosmetic changes. Work has been done to improve compatibility with linux.
14.11.2011:
Neon 0.3.6 is now available for download. Apart
from some engine backend changes, the most visible novelties are animations (limited to ranged combat
for now), and several updates to the editor.
24.9.2011:
Neon 0.3.5 is now available for download.
Many backend updates in this version: aspect-oriented programming with aspectj, jvector reintegrated
in the engine and a new logging mechanism. On the visible side, the random dungeon and wilderness
generation has been greatly improved.
14.4.2011:
Neon 0.3.4 is now available for download.
All game data is editable again, and the editor features an undo function now. The engine received
many small bug fixes and user interface updates. Light effects, a few services and a day/night cycle
have been added.
28.12.2010:
Neon 0.3.3 is now available for download.
This release features some major updates to the magic system. A new vector graphics package,
jvector, and a new physics engine, phys2d, are included. The editor has received some minor updates.
17.10.2009:
Neon 0.3.0 is now available for download.
With the addition of creature status saving, this version is mostly feature complete. It is now
possible to define new currency types. The editor features new map management options (add/remove
maps/levels).
27.8.2009:
Neon 0.2.5 is now available for download.
The editor now supports map viewing. Several additions were made to the engine: a console,
support for more than 1 data file, item status is recorded in savegames, new items, ...
29.7.2009:
Neon 0.2.4 is now available for download. Apart from some minor additions to the engine, it features
an improved version of the neon editor.
3.5.2009:
Neon 0.2.3 is now available for download. The map structure got reworked again. A savegame function is
available, limited to player data for now. Scripting support is improved (timed scripts,
activator objects).
28.8.2008:
Neon 0.2.2 is now available for download.
The release introduces a game data editor. It supports editing all game data, except maps. Mods can
now be released as a single jar file. Smaller changes include improved AI, magic and combat, and on-screen
character data.
3.8.2008:
Neon 0.2.1 is now available for download. Random dungeon and town generator were added, the combat system
was improved, doors and portals were added and basic magic is working again.
27.7.2008:
Neon 0.2.0 is now available for download. The map structure got a complete overhaul. The user interface
is now made with the Substance Java look & feel. The finite
state machine also got a major update, simplifying event and input handling.
7.10.2007:
Neon 0.1.0 is now available for download. Updated features are: more spell effects, optimized
map code and minor changes to the data files.
